Amy E. Powell
(any pronouns) is a Chicago-based, producer, screenwriter, and director who believes deeply in the power of collaboration to drive the filmmaking process.
As a producer, Amy has screened films at festivals all over the world, most notably Desire Lines and Debaters, both of which had Sundance premieres. Other festival credits include Cinequest, CIFF, London Breeze, Palm Springs Int’l, LA Shorts Int’l, and more. She especially enjoys collaborating with other multi-hyphenate artists and has produced projects with acclaimed theater companies Teatro Vista (Hair, Jumps) and Lookingglass Theatre (Sunset 1919).
As a director, Amy’s most recent work includes Bare Naked Truths (Best Web Series, Midwest Weirdfest) and Office Rivals (Best of Fest, Ha Ha Harvest Festival). Her short script, The Unemployed Woman, was a Cinequest top 50 finalist and they co-wrote the adapted screenplay for Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol, a play and book of the same name, a Scriptation Showcase 2025 semi-finalist.
They studied acting at Northern Illinois University and the Moscow Art Theatre School before shifting to work behind the camera. You can catch her voice work on the DnD podcast Roll For It.
